February 2008

Febuary 6, 2008 Boeing Stratocruisers met at Alfy's Silver Lake Pizza for their monthly meeting. President Joanne Luster opened the meeting promptly at 5:00P.M. Secretary Bonnie Smith read the minutes from the November, 2007, meeting as we had no meeting in December--just a PARTY! Treasurer Mark Thomson gave the treasurer's report.

On January 8th, John, John the 3rd, Willie, Phil and Mike helped George Luster with his car, sort of a workshop for John the 3rd. We received three nice thank-you notes from Christmas House for our efforts in setting up and helping to distribute all the items they gave out (we and a lot of other who collected during the year). We seemed to be short of used men's jackets and coats. Every family member got one used clothing item along with one new article per family. They had more people go through this year than ever before. It was a very worthwhile cause to work for.

Our next garage tour is to Street Rod Visions in Lynnwood on March 22, a Saturday. Meet at K-Mart on Evergreen Way in Everett at 10:45A.M. and caravan to the site. They will serve refreshments and we will be the only ones there as they are closed on Saturdays.

Saturday, February 9th is our wine tour. Meet at K-Mart on Evergreen Way in Everett at 10:45A.M. and caravan to King Charlie's, Snohomish, to pick up the north people and go on to the vineyard in Snohomish. Phil and Karen Simons set up this tour and it sounds like it will be a great time! The truck club is also invited so we should have a nice crowd.

In June (when it should be nice and sunny) we will put another coat of paint on the trailer (we have one gallon of paint left which should be enough for another coat). The trailer is parked at George and Joanne Luster's home and after painting we will have a cookout! A little work then a little play--lots of fun! We need a few more items for the trailer and most of these are being donated. Our members have been very generous donating time, money and items needed to make it a well-equipped trailer. Thank you all very much.

Kla-Ha-Yah Days will be on July 20th which is the third Sunday in July. Mike Burks is our dedicated voice in this event (going to the meetings and keeping us posted). Joanne wrote up a disclaimer for our club to be given to everyone that registers for our car show on July 20th. It was very well written and should eliminate any problems we've had in the past.

We all signed the new agreement from The Boeing Company, releasing them from all liability associated with our club, as we renewed our memberships for 2008. The agreement just states that they are not responsible for any injuries or accidents at our club events.

Colby car show; May 25 is cruise night and May 26 is car show day. We would like to have our car club participate and hopefully we can win the trophy for having the most cars registered in the show!

Karen Simons did split-the-pot and Mike Smith won. He dedicated his winnings back to the club. Thank you Mike and Karen.

Jack Harding was picked for car of the month for March. He will get to put a picture of his car and other items (like trophies he has won) in our display case at the Boeing recreational center.

Mike Burks received a blood pressure kit for participating in a blood pressure study. He already has one so would like to give this one to someone that needs it but can't afford one. We will try to come up with some ideas next time.

Meeting adjourned at 6:00P.M.

Respectfully submitted,
Bonnie Smith, secretary
