April 2008
Meeting was called to order at 5:00 P.M. by our illustrious president, Joanne Luster
(with her sees-all gavel, of course).
Secretary, Bonnie Smith read the minutes.
Treasurer Mark Thomson was absent so we had no treasurer's report.
On March 22nd we toured the shop of "Street Rod Visions" in Lynnwood. A group met at K-Mart in everett and caravanned to the site. We had invited other clubs to join us and they did. We had a total of 29 guests. We were served a catered lunch of barbequed chicken, salad, potatoes, baked beans and drinks. Everyone had a good time eating, visiting and looking at cars in various stages of repair from rust buckets to great show pieces. The group then went to the "Roadhouse" for more visiting and bonding. Everyone had a great time!
Mike Burks gave a report on Kla-Ha-Yah Days. Les Schwab (corporate) will no longer be the primary sponsor so the committee is looking for other paying sponsors. The vendors will participate in our music and different activities. We will also have a Hula Hoop contest of some sort. We will have fliers at our next meeting.
Boeing Life and Wellness requires that we each have our own I.D. number (called BEMS) so those who already renewed must put their number on their application (for your spouse put your number plus an "S" and for a dependent, your number plus a "D"). Anyone who has ever worked for Boeing has this number on file. Also, to get in the Boeing rec. center we will need to have an I.D. card with our picture on it (all supplied by Boeing) so we can get in the building to get to our display cabinet. Joanne already did this. Open house for Life and Wellness will be in the fall at the rec. center.
Our club now also has to file income tax even though we don't make much money. We are allowed $25,000.00 before we have to pay taxes. We also need membership to be 90% Boeing-related. Only 10% can be non-Boeing people.
FUN STUFF:
Christmas House; September will be a good time to start collecting gifts and money for them.
We all agreed to give a cash donation to the food bank as we did last year. John and Wendy Lato started volunteering at the Lynnwood food bank and state it is a very worthy cause. It's located behind the church on 176th and 52nd in Lynnwood (5320 176th St. S.W., Lynnwood 98037, phone (425) 745-1635)
