The Everett Boeing Stratocruisers met at Alfy's pizza, Silver Lake. Our president, Joanne Luster, started it promptly at 5:00 P.M. with her Seeing Eye gavel.
We opened our meeting watching a video from our garage visit April 26th to Drager's Classic Cars. A big thanks to Willie Spann for the video. Drager's Classic is more like a museum than a "garage". There were all kinds of cars and bikes (motorcycles) and car items. There was also a '49 Chev pickup with a Harley on back that Drager has never ridden (he just polishes it) and he won the truck and the bike for only a $5.00 ticket!! We had also invited the Studebaker North club to join us and they came out in force ( I believe there were more Studebakers in the parking lot than any other cars). The combined turnout was great, then lunch at the Red Crane, a neat way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
Bonnie Smith, secretary, read the minutes and Mark Thomson, treasurer, gave the treasurer's report.
John Lato the 3rd brought an album of pictures he presented for his senior project that he gave at his high school Wednesday, April 17th. Several of our members went to see his presentation and were VERY impressed. John has been a club member most of his young life--way to go John!
Not everyone has gotten their BEMS number. We need them for our records. If you ever worked at Boeing you have this number. Joanne has the information on how to obtain your number.
We discussed the music for Kla-Ha-Yah Days July 20th. The Lato family will be in charge of playing the music as they have in previous years. They will do the name the tune and artist & also the year of each song. Prizes will be t-shirts. We decided to have no Hula Hoops this year because we don't have a large enough area to do this.
Tabs are due for the trailer (registration is in the trailer). Mark Thomson, our treasurer will be doing this for us (we need them by July).
Starting May 9th we will be back cruising Wendy's at Silver Lake in their LARGE parking lot. 3P.M. till dusk with our club and freinds. We have invited other clubs and hope to get a good turnout. This coming Friday looks promising weather wise!
We have an ad in the Boeing Machinist paper and it will be in each edition for the next 6 months. We have had an ad for the past year thanks to Willie Spann! Does anyone get this paper?
We will be needing 3 trophies for the Granite Falls Retirement's car show July 26th.
Sam Roberts offered to rebadge them for us.
September 13th is our rod run to Chuckanut Drive. We will eat at a restaurant there.
Mark Thomson was picked for car-of-the-month. He has a nice, yellow '35 Ford rod.
We had 26 members present at our meeting and added Walt Scott to our group-always good to get another car lover. He has a nice '49 Ford that he did all by his lonesome.
Mike Smith handled split-the-pot and also won (no, he didn't get to pick the number). He was generous and added it to the club's account. Thank you, Mike. Way to go!
We have lots of car shows coming up. Mark your calendars in advance so you don't miss out. May 15th: Richmond Beach Rehab will have their "Love is Ageless" show from 10:00 A.M.to noon and will be serving hamburgers, fries and root beer floats--a neat way to spend a sunny day! May 17th: Monroe swap meet. May 18th: Spring fling at the Nile Shrine Center (golf course) -this is their 31st show! Colby Cruise: May 25th--3P.M. to 6:30 P.M., controlled cruise May 26th--8A.M. to 4P.M. show and shine. We will be meeting at Lowe's parking lot (2505 Pacific Avenue, Everett) at 5:30 A.M. and caravan to the show entrance. June 15th: Father's Day car show at north shore church, close to the Boeing Recreational center. June 15th: Ashley Point retirement home at Lake Stevens, noon to 3:00P.M. This is free and lunch is also served. July 20th:Kla-Ha-Yah Days--our day to shine. Helpers arrive at 5:30 A.M. As you can see, we have all kinds of events to take part in, so, have a good month. At the end of our meeting this month we had a May birthday party.
We celebrated John Lato the 3rd's 18th birthday (which is May 12th). Thanks to the Lato family we all had birthday cake and yes, we all sang "Happy Birthday" in perfect harmony.
Respectfully submitted
