August 2008

August 6th 2008, the Stratocruisers met at Alfy's Silver Lake location for our monthly meeting.

Promptly at 5pm Joanne Luster, our great president, called the meeting to order.

Bonnie Smith secretary, read the July minutes, treasurer Mark Thomson gave the financial report.

New members Terry and Linda Morgan were present. Bob Wright, Jim and Valerie Thayer were our guests.

Kla-Ha-Ya-Days July 20th 2008. Beautiful sunny day Joanne Luster gave a report on how well pre-registration went. Thanks to John and Louella Novak for pre-printing the entrance forms, this helped the lines move smoothly. Sally Joy and helpers did the new entrants, and that went smooth as well. It was suggested we have the goodie bags already stuffed for the free items for each participant, to speed up the lines, good idea. There were 157 cars entered, rather small show. We discussed different ways to do the music and set up of the tables. Several people had issues with the ballots, categories, classes etc. Ed Osgood made a motion that we set up a committee to plan changes for next year if needed. George Luster ,John Novak, Ed Osgood and Steve from Kla-Ya-Ha-Days will serve on this committee, thanks guys.

The tee shirts never arrived, so we had just a few left over ones from last year, mainly 2-x and small. this is our only fund raiser of the year, so now the only money we make is thru dues and split the pot that the members have so generously given back. Mike Burks reported that, the tee shirts never were picked up from the printer!!. They now are available and he suggested we sell them at other car shows.

We had 27 willing workers show up to help, and after parking and registration, there was little for them to do. The prime sponsor of the show did not attend, so Willie Spann and Chuck Gore were selling Snohomish City tee shirts all day long, they are good guys!!.

July 26th, the Village at Granite Falls, invited, us for a day of music, prizes, hot dogs and very good potato salad, dash plates and raffle prizes made by the seniors just for the day. The most popular car there was, Little Brown Jug, she won a trophy!! she belongs to Paula Giarde, lucky lady.
