Promptly at 5:00P.M. Joanne began her farewell meeting.
Bonnie Smith, secretary, read the minutes of the October 1st meeting. Mark Thomson gave the treasurer's report.
Joanne passed around a scrapbook she has made of our activities for the last two years. Very impressive, she did a very good job.
Very important elections--President and treasurer need to be elected. Mark Thomson volunteered for treasurer again and was elected for another term. Mike Burks, who was not present, was nominated for president by John Lato who had talked with Mike earlier and Mike wanted the position. The nomination was seconded by Trish Parrish and it was approved by those present. Each position is a two-year term. Mark and Mike will be installed at the Christmas party on December 17 (a Wednesday) at Shawn O'Donnell's American Grill and Irish Pub which starts at 6:00P.M. The truck club will join us for our party, so will Santa!
We have collected an impressive amount of cash for our charities. The money from split-the-pot for most of the year has been given back to the club and we decided to use it for this purpose. We will give equal amounts to the Lynnwood food bank and Battered Women of Everett. The Christmas House was a separate offering and they will get that on December 3rd,9:00A.M.-3:00P.M.,when our club goes to help them out with their set-up. We will also bring any stuffed animals, clothes (especially coats), and other toys we have collected throughout the year. No lunch will be served (go to O'Donnell's after?). We will also help them out December 15th, 8:15A.M.-3:00P.M. ( lunch will be served) with the distribution of all the items for the people in need.
No regular meeting will be held in December.
Our club went to Retro Rods on October 25th and checked out Greg's shop. He does very fine restoration work and has built several show cars. We personally have had him work on "Maxine" several times and he has done excellent work for us.
The 30th of October our club participated in a retirement party at the Dreamliner gallery, a Boeing building. A very nice buffet was provided and everyone had a good time. Our club brought 7 cars even though the weather was not favorable. This party had been in planning for several months and was worth it. Some of our members stayed and got a tour of the building which shows prospective customers the interiors of the airplanes so they will see how they will look when the airplane is finished.
Our members brought personal items for the Lynnwood food bank, cash for the Christmas House, paid for the Christmas party and we still had a good split-the-pot. Chuck Gore ran it and it was won by Linda Burgin who graciously donated it to the Christmas House.
John Lato, who volunteers at the Lynnwood food bank, had a suggestion to make some money for the charity. They work out of a church at 176th and 53rd street in Lynnwood and have a large, paved parking lot. We could have our own car show just for the food bank. Spring might be a good time to have it. John will have more details later.
We discussed our left-over trophies and different ways to "regift" them and the cost involved.
We ended the meeting with pictures of taillights, trying to guess which cars they belonged to.
Meeting adjourned at 6:00P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Bonnie Smith, secretary
